If walls could talk – about spaces, emotions and new beginnings
“If these walls could talk…” – what would they say?
Pop icon Dua Lipa asks this question in her song These Walls .
The singer describes a relationship in which so much remains unsaid—but everything is stored within the walls of their shared home. As if the space itself knew the truth we don't want to admit to ourselves.
And it is precisely this thought that touches:
Can rooms really store emotions?
And if so – what does that do to us?
Rooms are more than walls
Our four walls are not just a backdrop, they are part of our history .
We laugh, cry, argue, reconcile – and the room is always there. Even if it doesn't say anything, we often sense something in the air . Perhaps memories. Perhaps unspoken feelings. Perhaps simply energy.
Dua Lipa summed it up like this:
"I had this idea of walls that store all the things you've said or felt in a room. And if they could talk, they'd tell you to finally let go."
A powerful image—and one that many of us know all too well. You enter a room, and without anything visible, it feels heavy or uneasy.
As if the room were still whispering something to us.
Emotional traces in the facility
In fact, there are similar concepts in psychology and Feng Shui:
- Rooms absorb the mood of their inhabitants
- Unresolved conflicts, stress or grief can be reflected in the room climate
- An apartment in which nothing has been changed for a long time can feel like a standstill
What helps? Change. Movement. Breathe a sigh of relief.
Just as we wear new clothes or treat ourselves to a new hairstyle to feel a fresh start, rooms also need a change every now and then.
Change of scenery as a spiritual cleansing ritual
A room that seems tired doesn't necessarily need to be remodeled. Sometimes a fresh look is all it takes. A new color. A new wall design.
Because walls not only store the past – they can also shape the future.
A new coat of paint, a fresh wallpaper motif or a deliberately placed accent can be like an invitation:
--> Something new begins here.
Wallpapers are a wonderful tool for this:
They not only bring color, but also mood, depth and expression into a room.
They can calm, inspire, ground or liberate – depending on what you need.
Conclusion: Your walls live with you – give them new stories
If walls really store energy, then they deserve a new impulse every now and then.
You also change outfits when life changes. Or try a new haircut when a new phase of life begins.
So why not get a new wallpaper look for the room that accompanies you every day?
Because sometimes a change of scenery is enough –
and suddenly everything feels easy again.
